As a child, the football coach had his right arm amputated. He is currently an NFL team’s assistant coach.
Who is the one-armed NFL coach?
Porter Ellett works as the head coach’s senior assistant for the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs. In 2017, he was hired as an assistant to the team’s head coach, a role he continues to occupy today.
Since November 2010 to the present, Porter Ellett has worked as a motivational speaker and facilitator for CoolSpeak, LLC. After his junior year of high school, he began speaking to groups on overcoming adversity in schools.
Porter Ellett lost the use of his right arm at the age of 4 due to an accident that occurred on the family farm in Loa, Utah. Ellett graduated from BYU and is currently an assistant coach with the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs. And although he views his amputation as a significant challenge, it has never served as a justification.
Ellett was unable to move his arm after the accident, but he was still in pain. However, when his family realized that the accident narrowly averted being fatal if he had severed a main artery, they recognized God’s hand at work.
