Taye Diggs Wiki Biography

Taye Diggs is also known as Scott L. Diggs, Diggs, Taye, Scottaye, Scott Leo Diggs and A. Leo “Taye” Diggs. Taye Diggs is an American singer, actor and TV producer who has estimated net worth as high as $16 million. He is best known for his appearances in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back”, “The Best Man” and a famous and well-known worldwide rock musical “Rent” by Jonathan Larson. While taking part in filming “Kevin Hill”, he was receiving 80 000 dollars per episode, and this large amount of money dramatically increased Taye’s net worth.

Taye Diggs Net Worth $16 Million

Scott Leo Diggs was born on January 2, 1971, in Newark, New Jersey, United States. He was raised in an ordinary family with two brothers and two sisters. Today his brother Gabriel Diggs is also a well-known music producer, DJ and radio host. Scott attended Allendale Columbia School and School of the Arts. Later he graduated from Syracuse University and then started his career. At first he performed in theatres and was also dancing at Tokyo Disneyland for more than three months. The first time Diggs really managed to rise to fame and increase his net worth was in 1996, when he portrayed Benny in the musical “Rent”. Later there were many other successful performances by Taye, which increased his net worth. For example, Diggs was playing Winston Shakespeare in a romantic drama “How Stella Got Her Groove Back” directed by Devin Rodney Sullivan in 1998. The year after, Taye managed to perform in four different movies – “The Wood”, “Go”, “Houe on Haunted Hill” and “The Best Man”, where he portrayed Harper Stewart. These films significantly helped to increase S. Leo Diggs’s net worth.

Taye Diggs has received many awards and nominations for his great work as an actor. The first time he was nominated to be the best outstanding actor in a motion picture in year 2000 by Image Awards, but however, the first time when he won an award was only three years later. Then, in year 2003, he received an award by Screen Actors Guild as the best outstanding performance by a cast in motion picture for his notable appearance in a film “Chicago” which was directed by Rob Marshall. Since that time he has received a several Image Awards, and the last one he won in year 2009 for the movie “Private Price”. So you know how rich is Taye Diggs.

In 2003 Diggs married Idina Menzel, whom he met while filming “Rent” in which she co-starred. The couple have one son, called Walker Nathaniel Diggs born in September 2009. However, the couple didn’t enjoy a happy family life for long. Only four years  after their son was born the couple decided to separate and filed for divorce. They finally broke up in 2013, after ten years of living together. Since then Taye’s net worth has only continued to grow.

Quote
1 The Wood was about young people and the other one is more of a grown up movie.
2 You just don’t see the same type of all-purpose entertainers nowadays.
3 I complained to my mother about wanting to look less like myself and more like my friends. My mother then gave me a lesson in embracing my differences and loving them despite what others said.
4 Like I went out to a predominantly black club last night and nobody said anything and I was wishing somebody would so that someone would dance with me.
5 The large ensemble cast and the fact that it was being shot in New York, combined with a lot of strong positive images as far as African Americans are concerned, really turned me on to The Best Man.
6 On the set I never know what day of the week it is.
7 One of my favorite films is ‘Pretty Woman.’
8 The only tough thing is admitting to my wife how much a certain article of clothing costs.
9 The whole issue is that everyone would love to do theater, but it doesn’t pay enough, so to do music theater on TV, that’s the ultimate dream.
10 I’m going through a stage where the dumbest things make me bawl. I feel like I need to see a shrink.
11 I’m living my life and I found a woman who I love.
12 Live theater is my favorite of all the mediums that I have worked in, so I have every intention on coming back to Broadway.
13 My wife never throws anything at me that I can’t handle.
14 Not one role that I’ve played has been written specifically for me.
15 I would love for film to go back to those days where you had to be able to do everything just to get by.
16 I’m a choreographer and I love watching ‘The Bachelorette.’
17 I’m always singing and dancing and getting up in people’s faces.
18 I’m always up for going back to the stage.
19 I’m awful with directions, and I’m not very handy around the house.
20 I failed chemistry. I almost failed algebra.
21 I jump at any chance to go back into theater.
22 I keep all my clothes on in House on Haunted Hill, Mary Jane’s Last Dance, and The Way of the Gun.
23 I love apple juice.
24 I think I am less of a prankster and more of a jokester.
25 I’ve always been attracted to women who are assertive and have confidence – qualities older women possess. They’ve been on the Earth a little longer. They’re more seasoned. They don’t play games. They know what they want, and they’re not afraid to tell you.
26 All my friends from my past would know me as Scott Diggs. Taye Diggs comes from Scott-taye. When I went to college I liked it because it was so different and I have an infatuation with nicknames.
27 It’s a trip but it hasn’t crossed over to the point where women are throwing their panties at me.
28 But then all that died down and as far as casting was concerned it didn’t really matter that I had been on Broadway.
29 Growing up, I was a nerd. With actual taped eyeglasses.

13 As of April, 2002 Taye is engaged to Broadway actress and singer Idina Menzel.
