Ashley Paige Turner Partner

Ashley Paige Turner has always been a proponent of body acceptance. She wanted to honor a particular moment in her life while empowering other women when she announced her engagement to lover Jimmie Captain to her millions of fans and the general public in January. As a result, they staged a photo session.

She was thrilled to share their lovely engagement photographs with local news agencies in Texas. Though there were many wonderful comments and good wishes, there was also some surprising body shaming of both she and the captain.

Instead of internalizing the negativity, which she admits hurt her, she decided to put it on display.

Ashley wanted to make people aware of the realities that plus-size women (and men) face and the work that has to be done to normalize body acceptance.
