For the first time, Susan Geston and Jeff Bridges spoke openly about his illness, which lasted a year and a half in an interview with The People. The Oscar winner battled non-Hodgkin lymphoma and nearly died from COVID before going into remission.

Throughout their 4 years of marriage, he and his wife Susan have remained committed to one other in sickness and in health.

Who Is Susan Geston? Wikipedia Of Jeff Bridges Wife

Susan Geston, the long-term wife of Jeff Bridges is a producer, having produced films such as Cold Feet (1989), Stay Hungry (1976), and Forbidden Zone (1982).

According to The Sun, Susan met Jeff in Paradise Valley, Montana, while waitressing to pay for college tuition. Susan is originally from Fargo, North Dakota.

The actor was in town to film sequences for Rancho Deluxe, a 1975 feature. Susan fell in love with Jeff despite originally rejecting him and ended up coming back to California with him when the film was completed.

Susan, then 20, swiftly said no when Jeff, then 24, eventually proposed they go on a date. But she denied it, fortunately, the two ran into one other a few nights later. They spent the night dancing and became fast friends. She and Jeff returned to California when filming was over.

“I knew I was passionately in love with my wife the minute I met her,” Jeff later remarked.

According to Wikipedia, the couple is blessed with three daughters: Isabelle Annie, Jessica Lily “Jessie”, Haley Roselouise, and granddaughter Grace from Isabelle.

Though Bridges, 72, and his wife, Susan Geston, 69, have been happily married for 44 years, the actor was previously afraid of commitment.

“I don’t know how it is for women or other males, but I had a phobia of marriage when I was young and in my 20s,” he wrote in Reader’s Digest in 2006.

“It seemed like a huge step toward death to me. So I tried all I could to avoid it, the thought was terrifying to me, dude.” That was his attitude until he met Susan, his future wife, and he recalls that remarkable encounter like it was yesterday.

He even has a photograph of her from that day, which was taken the first time they met.

Jeff Bridge’s Wife, 69, Has Her Net Worth In Six Digits

Jeff Bridges, wife, Susan Geston, 69, was by his side at the time he was diagnosed with lymphoma.

According to Finance.Yahoo, Bridges will return to television in 2022 to feature in the FX for Hulu series “The Old Man.” The well-known actor will play Dan Chase and will be paid $1 million every episode.

The actor, producer, and country artist from the United States has an estimated net worth of $100 million. All the credit for his wealth goes to parts in films such as The Big Lebowski, Crazy Heart, Iron Man, True Grit, and Tron (as well as its belated sequel Tron: Legacy).

He is one of the most well-known and respected performers of his time.

Similarly, Susan, an actor, and a producer have an estimated total worth of $1million.

The actor spoke to People about getting Covid last year.  “In my body, there was a 12-by-9-inch tumor. In my physique, I feel like a child. Covid made my cancer appear like nothing,” he claimed, describing his struggle for air and suffering.

“I couldn’t even move over in bed without calling for help with the oxygen,” says the patient. Susan stated she wasn’t sure he’d make it, and Bridges was concerned as well.

Bridges received news in January 2021, a month after starting chemo, that he may have been exposed to COVID-19 at the treatment center. Since the chemo had damaged his immune system, he quickly tested positive, and the virus attacked him hard.

“I didn’t have any defenses. Chemo accomplishes just that: it depletes your immune system. I couldn’t resist it since I didn’t have anything to fight with “he declares “COVID made my cancer seem insignificant.”

Susan’s heart broke as she saw her spouse in misery. “We weren’t sure if he’d make it,” she adds. She recalls receiving a call from the hospital informing her that he might need to be put on a ventilator. “‘Save his life,’ I murmured. Whatever you have to do, do it.’

Fortunately, everything is better and he has successfully beat cancer.

Susan Geston And Jeff Bridges Wedding

Despite Susan Geston and Jeff Bridges’ long, initial attraction, they did not marry for some years. “It was love at first sight,” he continued, “but getting to the altar was so difficult.”

But he realized he didn’t want to lose Susan when she offered him an ultimatum that she wanted to marry and establish a family.

Jeff told OWN, “I thought, ‘Oh God, I can’t let this woman go.'” “I got this idea of an elderly man wondering, ‘Man, why didn’t I marry this girl from Montana?'” On June 5, 1977, they were married barely five days after he proposed.

“Every year, my marriage becomes better and better,” Jeff stated. However, this does not imply that it was always simple. The two used to quarrel a lot, but they ultimately figured out a simple way to improve their communication.

According to AARP, they talk about what’s troubling them frequently and don’t interrupt each other until the other has completed speaking. And this is what they called the secret of their long-lasting marriage.

Despite his long career in Hollywood, Jeff does not want his marriage to go the way of most famous marriages. He claims that cheating and divorce are not for him.

“You don’t receive the richness that’s there is a long-term relationship if you change partners every time things get rough or you grow a bit unsatisfied,” he added. “Because my wife supports me, I love her even more.”
