Steve Perry Net Worth $45 Million

Steve Perry was encouraged in music by his father, but inspired to become a singer after hearing Sam Cooke’s song “Cupid”. At the very beginning of his career, Perry started the band “Ice” with Scott Matthews, who would later become a multi-platinum producer. When the band separated, Perry went on to form a progressive rock band with Tim Bogert named “Pieces”, however, being unable to secure a record deal, “Pieces” disbanded and Perry later fronted yet another band, “Alien Project” which disbanded after one member was killed.

So it was the band “Journey” that brought Perry national recognition and significantly added to his net worth. Perry provided vocals for nine “Journey” albums, and became not only a leading voice for the band, but perhaps its most famous member as well. Perry’s most successful attempt with “Journey” was their seventh studio album entitled “Escape” that was certified platinum nine times by RIAA, selling over 12 million copies worldwide. The album produced four Billboard Hot 100 singles: “Don’t Stop Believin”, “Who’s Crying Now”, “Still They Ride” and “Open Arms”. During his time with “Journey”, Perry successfully worked with other remarkable musicians too, such as Sheena Easton and Jon Bon Jovi. Following “Journey’s” tour in support of their eighth studio album “Frontiers”, Steve Perry released his first solo album entitled “Street Talk”, which sold more than two million copies. One of the songs on the album, “Oh, Sherrie” was dedicated to his then-girlfriend Sherrie Swafford, and became Perry’s biggest hit as a solo artist. His first successful solo attempt resulted in a second solo album named “For the Love of Strange Medicine”, which, partly because of his world tour, received some success. With the ever changing band members, “Journey” managed to record and release “Trial by Fire” and their other albums, however, several years later, Perry left “Journey”, partially due to his health issues. Of course, all these projects helped Perry’s net worth to rise significantly.

Nevertheless, he later stated that he “never really felt like he was part of the band”. After leaving “Journey”, Perry actively worked on solo projects, and in 2006 remastered and re-released his first two solo albums. In an interview in 2010, Perry revealed that he has written over 50 songs and has been contemplating releasing his first solo project since 1994. Perry was also part of the group of singers who recorded a song “We Are the World” for the Africa Band Aid.

An immensely successful artist with a remarkable voice and a large fan following, Steve Perry is a widely recognized face in the entertainment industry. Currently, the semi-retired musician resides in Del Mar, in California, keeping a rather low profile. Despite his world-wide fame and success, there is no indication that Steve Perry has ever married, or has children.
