From 1994 through 1998, Terry was a four-year guard at Texas–Arlington. She played professionally in Poland for one season before switching to coaching.
Terry spent two seasons as a graduate assistant at her alma university, Texas–Arlington, before joining Louisville as an assistant coach in 2000. She has also attended Dayton, Illinois, Southern Miss, UCLA, and LSU.
On May 15, 2013, Terry was hired as head coach at San Diego State.
In 2019, she signed a contract extension that took her through the 2023–24 season.

Hutson began his coaching career as an assistant coach at his alma school in 1998, then moved on to become the head boys’ basketball coach at Bakersfield HS from 2000 to 2004.
The basketball coach went back to college for a year as an assistant coach at Cal Poly before joining Steve Fisher’s staff at San Diego State in 2006.
Hutson remained in the post until 2011 when he accepted a position as an assistant coach on Dave Rice’s team at UNLV.
In 2013, the basketball coach returned to San Diego State as an assistant coach until being named Fresno State’s 21st head coach on April 5, 2018, succeeding Rodney Terry, who left for the head coaching position at UTEP.
