Sia Kate Isobelle Furler Wiki Biography

Born Sia Kate Isobelle Furler on the 18th December 1975 in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia, Sia is a musician, singer-songwriter and record producer, best known to the world for her album “1000 Forms of Fear”, which topped the US Billboard 200 chart, and the single “Chandelier”, which can be found on the aforementioned album.

Have you ever wondered how rich Sia is, as of late 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that her net worth is as high as $20 million, earned through her successful career, active since the early ‘90s.

Sia Net Worth $20 Million

Sia has artistic parents – her father, Phil Colson was a musician, while her mother was an art lecturer, and singer/actor Kevin Colson is her uncle. She went to Adelaide High School, where she started taking music seriously. Before that, she would sing in the way of Aretha Franklin, Sting and other musicians.

She launched her career in 1993 by joining the acid jazz band Crisp, with which she worked on two EPs before the band ceased to exist, after which Sia, now an accomplished musician, wanted to make a solo name for herself, and started working on her debut album. Signed to Flavoured Records in Australia, she released “Only See” which sold 1,200 copies, and dissatisfied with the sales and promotion, she moved to London with her then-boyfriend Dan Pontiflex. There she collaborated with Zero 7, a downtempo duo, on their albums “Simple Things” (2001), “When It Falls” (2004) and “The Garden”, as an unofficial vocalist. She also had a brief collaboration with Jamiroquai.

Her next move was signing a contract with Dance Pool, a sub-label of Sony Music, through which she released her second album – “Healing Is Difficult”. Unfortunately, she didn’t have much luck, and left the label to sign with Go! Beat, a part of the Universal Music Group. The new album didn’t come out until 2004, but she was focused more on writing, and won the Breakthrough Songwriter award at the APRA Awards of 2002. In 2004, she released “Colour the Small One”, her third album, but still lacked commercial success.

She then relocated to New York and started a tour across the US, promoting her past material and introducing new works. This left a positive mark on Sia, as her next album, “Some People Have Real Problems”, reached No. 26 on the US Billboard 200, and achieved gold status in Australia, which increased her net worth and signified an improvement in her musical career. This proved to be right, as Sia’s next releases were quite extraordinary, since “We Are Born” (2010), “1000 Forms of Fear” (2014), and “This Is Acting” (2016), have reached platinum status in several countries, while the album from 2014 topped the US Billboard 200 chart, all of which considerably increased her net worth.

Aside from studio albums, Sia has also released six live albums, further increasing her wealth, and a live DVD – “TV Is My Parent” – back in 2009, which also added a considerable amount.

When it comes to her personal life, Sia has had her way; she suffered from depression, and even wrote a suicide note, and was addicted to alcohol and painkillers, all because of the premature death of her boyfriend, Dan Pontifex. She is also suffering from Graves disease, which means that her thyroid gland is over-active.

She was married to filmmaker Erik Anders Lang from 2014 until late 2016.

Sia is a vegan and supports organizations that help animals, for which endeavors she earned a nomination for a 2016 Libby Award for “Best Voice for Animals”.
