Cop Shawn Guetschow is a security guard at the Kenosha Unified School District. He is known as an officer who kneeled on a 12 years old girl on her neck for about a minute and a half before handcuffing and taking her out of the cafeteria.
On Friday, the Kenosha Unified School District released a redacted video from the March 4 fight at Lincoln Middle School.
Officer Guetschow of Kenosha intervenes in the fight and scuffles with the sixth-grader before collapsing and hitting his head on a table. He then put his knee on a girl’s neck to restrain her during a lunchtime brawl.
Guetschow is still employed by Kenosha police, according to a statement though he reportedly leaves the resignation letter in the school.
The school initially placed Guetschow on paid leave. However, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, he resigned from his part-time security job at the school on Tuesday.
Guetschow complained in his resignation letter that the school district had failed to support him and that the incident had put a strain on his family.
He wrote, “because of the incident at Lincoln Middle School, my family is suffering through the mental and emotional strain. And because of the lack of communication and or support, I have received from the district.”
“I am unable to continue my employment with the Kenosha Unified School District. ”

Cop Shawan Guetschow, a 37 years old officer is receiving a lot of criticism from Facebook and the family. The incident has not only affected the victim and her family but has provided a shock to the perpetrator’s family also.
Like, Guetschow wrote in his resignation letter, the hatred for him on social media and the community has negatively affected his children and wife.
He is a married man with his kids who also live with him, and the news of their father performing an assault is extremely traumatizing.
However, the name of his partner and baby is not revealed yet.
People are protesting outside the school, linking the case to the murder of George Floyd by Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. The officer had used a knee chokehold restraint on George.
Is Cop Shawn Guetschow Arrested?
Cop Shawn Guetschow was taken for inquiry after the video of the assault was released by the school. The victim’s father, Jerrel Perez filed a complaint against him stating that Guetschow use a type of restraint that was banned for Wisconsin law enforcement officers last year.
The father also claimed that her daughter is seeking therapy and a neurologist for her injuries.
The district declined to provide any additional information to the newspaper and did not answer texts left by The Associated Press on Saturday.
“We continue our investigation,” the department said in a statement, “paying close attention to the full scope of the incident.” “At this time, we have no further information.”
