Who is Sham Idrees? – Bio & Age
“Who is Sham Idrees?” is the question many have asked in recent years. Interest in the Pakistani YouTube personality spiked in May 2018 following his infamous feud with fellow Pakistani YouTuber Ducky Bhai. The feud tarnished his reputation to a large extent and even cost him many followers. However, Sham maintains a loyal fanbase of at least one million.
Sham Idrees is a musician, musical director and YouTuber of Pakistani origin. He was born Ehtesham Idrees on October 16, 1988 in England. Despite being raised outside his native country, Idrees has stayed true to his roots and is fluent in his native language. Not much information is available about his parents and how he grew up, but he was found to be the second cousin of former One Direction star Zayn Malik. He also has a younger sister called Anna who has been featured in many of his videos. She got married in August 2018.
Idrees and his family would later move to Ontario, Canada where he lives to this day. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Ontario. Sham Idrees got his first taste of fame in 2012 when his debut single ‘Bolo Na’, released in the summer of 2012, topped the UK Asian charts. He would then release other hit songs like ‘Pyar Hoa’, ‘London 2 Paris’ and ‘Fame and a Girl’.
In order to boost his music career, Sham Idrees created a YouTube channel on November 19, 2013, where he started sharing his music videos. Additionally, he started showcasing his comedic side by posting funny music videos including prank videos.
Thanks to her incredible wit and originality, the channel quickly garnered a lot of traction, propelling Sham to mainstream recognition. He now has three YouTube channels, including Sham Idrees VLOGS and Sham Idrees Fitness, which had already surpassed one million subscribers in June 2018, earning him his second golden YouTube play button.
The remix of Sham’s “Dil Dil Pakistan” produced by Kemyst was one of his first viral works in Pakistani media. It was featured on many popular TV channels including PTV and GEOTV and also aired on radio.
Sham Idrees became his own downfall in April 2018 when he took to social media to share the immediate aftermath of an accident that involved him with frequent collaborator Queen Froggy. Shortly after the accident, a head-on collision between their car and another, Sham took out his phone and recorded the incident, after which he uploaded it online. Unfortunately, the video was not well received by the majority of her fans who saw it as a desperate attempt to garner footage from her channel.
Idrees was a subject of backlash within weeks Pakistani YouTuber Ducky Bhai then exacerbated the situation by creating a video calling out Sham and his partner Froggy for posting fake videos and scripted pranks while exposing their tactics. Ducky Bhai’s video immediately became the top trending video on YouTube, with 2.3 million views. However, Idrees did not lose his fight when he made a rebuttal video that refuted Bhai’s claims. They kept dragging each other until there was obviously nothing left to drag.
Since then, each side has moved forward to focus on their respective careers. Like most popular YouTube stars, Sham Idrees bolsters her YouTube income by selling her merchandise, a clothing line called Rebel, through her official eponymous website. At the 6th Annual Shorty Awards, Idrees was a finalist for Best Director, but Paul Feig grabbed the award.
