Sandy Fernandez, a 19-year-old mother, is suspected of hitting her kid, breaking his jaw and skull, and causing severe internal injuries that resulted in an infection.
According to court documents, Fernandez called 911 dispatch on May 23 to report that her son was unresponsive and not breathing. On May 26, detectives questioned them about the bruises she denied seeing.
However, when autopsy results arrived on June 22 that said Jose had an internal hemorrhage, a damaged jaw, and a cracked skull at the time of death, Fernandez confessed her crime, as per The Seattle Times.
She said she slammed her kid on the floor the morning he was ill because she was upset from being overworked and wanted him to get back to sleep.
