Samantha Renke suffers from a disability called osteogenesis imperfecta (OI). It is also called Brittle bone disease, a genetic bone condition present from birth. A newborn with OI may have soft, easily broken (fractured) bones, abnormally shaped bones, and other issues.
The symptoms include frequent bone fractures, muscle weakness, hearing loss, tiredness, joint laxity, curved bones, scoliosis, blue sclerae, brittle teeth, and low height. Despite this, Samantha continues to live her life to the fullest.
She is independent and successful. But, she also admits that, in all honesty, she has never walked and frankly never wanted to.
