What Happened To Andrea Yates’s Ex-Husband?
Andrea Yates, his then-wife, drowned all five of their children in their bathtub while he was at work in 2001. The heinous assault occurred less than an hour after he departed for work.
Andrea had many mental illness diagnoses, which Yates accused of neglecting and not treating as seriously as he should have.
He and Andrea met in 1989, married in 1993, and had five children from the marriage, all of whom were killed in a murder in 2001.
Just after three or four of their children were born, Yates got hospitalized several times owing to nervous breakdowns.
She tried suicide numerous times but was stopped on each occasion by her husband, who transported her to a hospital for treatment.
She allegedly drowned the first three eldest boys, Luke, John, and Paul, in the water of their bathtub and then proceeded to kill the youngest children, Mary and Noah.

After their children’s deaths, Andrea’s husband was devastated, but fortunately, the engineer seems to be healing from his past trauma.

Where Is Rusty Yates Now?
Rusty and Laura divorced in 2015 and have separated since. They are presently co-parenting their 15-year-old kid.
Rusty Yates’ second wife was a divorcee who had children from her former marriage at the time of their marriage.

Andrea Yates was acquitted and sent to the North Texas State Hospital, a high-security mental health facility in Vernon, Wilbarger County, Texas, where she got much-needed medical care.
The ex-wife of Russell was then transported to Kerrville State Hospital, a low-security mental hospital in Kerrville, Kerr County, Texas, after she was stable enough.
Yates still lives there now, more than 13 years later. In this manner, she may be closer to her remaining family without endangering anybody else. According to her attorney, Andrea, now 56, spends her leisure time doing arts and crafts.
