Rip Torn Net Worth $10 million

Born in Temple, Texas, Torn is the son of Elmore Rual Torn Sr., who worked as an agriculturalist and economist, and Thelma Mary Spacek, a homemaker. Growing up on a farm, he decided to study animal husbandry at the Texas A&M University and later on graduating from the University of Texas.

With his dreams of having his own ranch, Torn decided to act a little in Hollywood to become a movie star and save up to by his own property. Unfortunately, life hit him hard and Hollywood too, and he certainly wasn’t able to become a star overnight. He worked his way through Hollywood until he was able to book his first movie “Baby Doll” in 1956.

Torn decided to take acting seriously, and studied acting under Less Strasberg and also dancing under Martha Graham. These career moves helped advance his career, and more projects came streaming in. Some of his notable performances during the late ‘50s included the play “Sweet Bird of Youth”, and folms “Pork Chop Hill”, “King of Kings” and “Channing”. His net worth was starting to move.

During the early ‘60’s to the ‘70’s, Torn also became active in acting on Broadway. Some of his early projects included “The Cincinnati Kid”, “Daughter of Silence”, “Strange Interlude”, “Blue for Mister Charlie”, “Dance of Death”, “The Glass Mengerie” and “Mixed Couples” to name a few. His time on the stage may not have lasted as long as his career on screen, but it certainly helped his career and net worth.

Aside from being active on stage in the ‘70’s, Torn maintained an active career in film and on television. In 1972, he became part of the classic film “Payday”, and worked with singer David Bowie in the film “The Man Who Fell to Earth”. In the ‘80s, Torn kept a busy career and starred in various films like “The Seduction of Joe Tynan”, “One Trick Pony”, “The Beastmaster” and “Cross Creek”, for which he earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

During the ‘90’s, although already established, Torn’s career continued to flourish and this was the time where some of his most memorable characters and performances happened, which included playing the boss of Will Smith and Tommy Lee esJon in “Men in Black”, and joining the sci-fi movie “RoboCop 3” and the comedy film “Down Periscope”.
In 1992, Torn became part of “The Larry Sanders Show”, in which his performance as Artie earned him multiple Emmy award nominations and an actual award in 1996. His various projects throughout the years ultimately helped build his career and his wealth.

Today, Torn is still active as an actor. Some of his current projects include an occasional appearance in the comedy series “30 Rock”, “Men in Black 3” and “Johnny Kidd”.

In terms of his personal life, Torn was first married to Ann Wedgeworth(1956-61) with whom he has a daughter, and was then married to Geraldine Page from 1963 until she passed away in 1987; they had a daughter and twin sons. Today, Torn has been married to actress Amy Wright since 1989, and they have two children.

Quote
1 There’s always some kind of blacklist throughout history. But the difference is, in America they usually let you live.
2 Everybody says, ‘You impress me as a guy who never wanted to be a movie star.’ I say, ‘Everybody in the world wants to be a movie star.’
3 Anything new is always considered the devil’s tool.
4 I’ve never hit anybody who hasn’t clocked me two or three times.
5 I think most actors are shy. I really do. The greatest actors can disappear. I had friends call me the Blend-In Man.
6 Let the other guys do the crybaby stuff. Go for the laughs.
7 I’ve got two old Volvos, two old Subarus, and an old Ford Ranger. If you’ve got an old car, you’ve gotta have at least several old cars, ’cause one’s always gonna be in the garage.
8 When I grew up, people said, ‘You’ll never be the man your dad was.’ And I said, ‘Gee, I hope not.’
9 Be your own politics, grow your own garden, and maybe you can help out more.
10 Don’t ever humiliate a man. If you’re gonna have to dress him out, you take him aside and do it that way. That’s the one thing I don’t like about Hollywood: They go in for public humiliation. You shouldn’t do that to a man.
11 You can never turn your back on the ocean.
12 If I could just get a piece of lemon, it’d be great.
13 If you’re lucky enough to have a pretty girl love you and share herself and sleep with you, make that your secret. The best way to spoil love is by talking to too many people about it.
14 I used to be friends with Miles Davis. He didn’t like many folks. I lived across the street from him.
15 I honor religion except when it gets into shedding blood.
16 Never think you’re better than anyone else, but don’t let anyone treat you like you’re worse than they are.
17 [on receiving his first Oscar nomination] People are finally realizing I’m one of the few actors who has never missed a performance. I’ve worked with broken legs, arms, ankles. I once passed a kidney stone during the opening night of a show.
18 What do they say about all the guys that are tremendous actors? Don’t they say they have a volatile temper and emotions? Yeah, sure they do! They’re not saying they like a nice mild guy. Look at Sean Penn. [on being called volatile].
Fact
1 His father was of Austrian and German descent. His mother was of three quarters Moravian (Czech) and one quarter German descent.
2 Has played three American presidents: Ulysses S. Grant, Lyndon Johnson, and Richard Nixon.
3 Accused of breaking into a Connecticut bank with a gun [January 30, 2010].
4 Mentioned in mini biography of Brenda Whitehead.
5 Although he and Geraldine Page never got divorced, their relationship was already over in the mid-70s. Torn began a relationship with his third wife Amy Wright in 1976.
6 Friends with Kris Kristofferson, the pair having appeared in Songwriter (1984) and Flashpoint (1984) together. Also a good friend of Nick Nolte after working on Extreme Prejudice (1987) with him.
7 Served as a U.S. Army military police officer after college.
8 In 1970, a bullet was fired through the window of his home after he spoke out against the Vietnam War on The Dick Cavett Show (1968).
9 Was the league commissioner of GSN’s Extreme Dodgeball.
10 Father of Tony Torn, John Torn, Angelica Page and Danae Torn.
11 Studied acting at the University of Texas.
12 Grew up in Texas.
13 Attended the Republican National Convention in New York in 2004.
14 In 1997, he appeared in Men in Black (1997) and Hercules (1997). In Men in Black (1997), he plays “Zed”, the head of the MIB agency. Also in that film, Tommy Lee Jones’s character, “Kay”, is swallowed by a giant cockroach, and escapes by blowing the creature up from the inside. In Hercules (1997), he plays “Zeus”, chief of the gods. In that film, Hercules is swallowed by the Hydra and escapes by cutting the creature’s head off from inside.
15 Is a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity.
16 Was a close friend from boyhood of actor Larry Blyden. As boys, friends would refer to the two as “Torn and Bleedin’,” Bleiden being the original spelling of the latter’s name.

19 Was a close friend of actor George Peppard.

Petra Ecclestone’s net worth, biography, fact, career, awards and life story

Petra Ecclestone Net Worth: Petra Ecclestone is a British-born heiress, model, fashion designer, and socialite who has a net worth of $400 million. Petra comes from an affluent family. Her father is the Formula One executive Bernie Ecclestone. Bernie has a net worth of $3.3 billion. Her mother is Slavica is a famous former Croatian model. Her sister is socialite Tamara Ecclestone. Today, Petra is perhaps best known for her work in the fashion world, including her role as a menswear designer. Petra is also someone who constantly finds herself the subject of tabloid journalism. Although she doesn’t exactly feed this constant level of attention, there always seems to be some new source of gossip surrounding Petra and her activities. Ecclestone is also known for her former marriage to James Stunt, and for her lucrative real estate deals. Early Life: Petra Ecclestone was born on December 19th of 1988 in Westminister, London, England. Her mother is the famed Armani model Slavica Ecclestone, and her father is the Formula One billionaire Bernie Ecclestone. She was raised alongside two siblings and grew up speaking English and Croatian. In later years, she learned Italian and French. At the age of 14, Petra contracted meningitis. The experience turned her into a self-proclaimed “health freak,” and today Ecclestone is reportedly obsessed with hygiene, vitamins, and sober living. Fashion: Ecclestone knew that she wanted to be a fashion designer from an early age, and she set her sights on menswear because she believed that womenswear was “too saturated.” At the age of 19, Ecclestone started the menswear label FORM. Although her collection was sold at retailers such as Harrods, it eventually folded after 14 months in operation. In 2009, she closed a deal with the Croatian clothing company Siscia. In 2011, Petra created a line of accessories under the brand name Stark. This collection included handbags with 24-carat gold details. Real Estate: In 2011, Petra bought the Spelling mansion (also known simply as “The Manor”) in Beverly Hills, paying $85 million in cash for the residence. The mansion was built by Aaron and Candy Spelling and remains the largest single-family house in Los Angeles County. Larger than the White House, the Spelling Manor contains over 100 rooms, a bowling alley, a wine cellar, and its own barbershop. Outside, there are tennis courts, koi ponds, pools, and a citrus orchard. More than 100 vehicles can fit inside the Manor’s motor court. In 2010, she purchased another mansion in London’s affluent neighborhood of Chelsea for $90 million. Since Petra’s purchase, she has reportedly been offered more than $125 million by buyers who are interested in her London home. At some point, she decided that she no longer wanted the Spelling Estate, and she put in on the housing market for a seriously inflated price. Early on, she tried to offload the property for a staggering sum of $200 million, although buyers steered clear of this expensive residence. After many years and price adjustments, Ecclestone settled on a price of $120 million and accepted an offer in 2019. This was the highest sale price in Californian history at the time. It’s worth pointing out that Petra poured at least $20 million into the home, spending exorbitant sums on numerous remodels and renovations. That $20 million was also spent on things like upkeep and taxes. So when you do the match, Petra “only” earned a profit of $15 million on her Beverly Hills real estate deal. While it might seem quite ridiculous to imply a profit of $15 million is a small sum, one has to realize the investment potential for that initial $85 million back in 2011. If she had taken that same sum and invested it in the S&P, she would have $170 million – without any fees (before taxes). Had she bought Apple, stock, she’d have $330 million. Had she bought Amazon stock, she’d have $865 million. Relationships: In 2006, Petra Ecclestone met businessman James Stunt on a blind date. Five years later in 2011, the pair were married in a lavish, $15-million wedding in Italy. She reportedly wore a Vera Wang gown with a price tag of about 80,000 pounds. Paris and Nicky Hilton and a number of other celebrities were both in attendance at the wedding, and high-profile musicians were hired to perform. Over the next few years, the couple welcomed three children into the world, including twins. Petra’s marriage to Stunt was not without incident. In 2017, the socialite allegedly locked herself in a bathroom during a violent row with her then-spouse. When divorce proceedings began between the pair in 2017, Stunt made disparaging comments about Petra’s father during a court hearing. While we’re on the topic of Bernie Ecclestone, it’s worth mentioning that the Formula One founder has claimed that Stunt once threatened to “blow his daughter’s head off.” Following Petra’s split from Stunt, he suffered financially. In 2018, his assets were frozen and he was forced to declare bankruptcy. Many of his multi-million dollar estates were reportedly repossessed, and he then alleged that he had been robbed of $126 million in cash and jewelry. In addition, Stunt has been accused of loaning forged paintings to the royal family. Petra’s split from Stunt was not an amicable one. Over the next few years, both former spouses would publicly attack each other for a number of reasons. Stunt claimed that it was like Petra had been “lobotomized” following their wedding, while both Bernie and Petra accused James of becoming addicted to drugs during the relationship. As the years went by, Petra became engaged to Sam Palmers, a classic car dealer.
