According to Toronto police, Richard Jonathan Edwin has been charged with two charges of first-degree murder for the “random” killings of two males in the city within 48 hours of each other.
According to the chief, the suspect had no prior criminal history and was in authorized possession of the firearms.

Richard Jonathan Edwin assassinated Kartik Vasudev, a 21-year-old international student from India, and Elijah Eleazar Mahepath, 35, of Toronto.
He has been charged with two charges of first-degree murder. At the time of his arrest, Edwin had a cache of loaded guns within reach, according to police.
Kartik was shot and killed at the Sherbourne subway station around 5 p.m. on April 7. With many gunshot wounds, he was taken to the hospital, where he eventually died.
Elijah was shot many times just before 7 p.m. two days later near the intersection of Dundas Street East and George Street, east of Jarvis Street. He died in the hospital a few hours later.
The suspect, according to police, was a complete stranger to both guys.
