Rasheed Wallace attended Simon Gratz High School, and while studying there, he was selected as a High School Player of the Year due to his exceptionally well-played games. Wallace’s talent gained him a place in the All-America first team, which helped him jump-start his futureprofessional career. Wallace’s performances on court in high school attracted the attention of one of the best head coaches of college basketball Dean Smith, who recruited him to North Carolina College, where Rasheed  met with future professional basketball player Jerry Stackhouse with whom he led “Tar Heel” team to their NCAA Final Four.

In 1995, Rasheed Wallace decided to focus on his professional basketball career, and hence entered the NBA Draft, where he was picked by the Washington Bullets. He played one season and a total of 65 games with the Washington Bullets, but after suffering an injury did not return the next year. Still, his net worth was rising.

Wallace was then traded to the Portland Trail Blazers and stayed with the team until 2004. Around the same time, Wallace created his “Rasheed Wallace Foundation” and began interacting more with the public. Wallace managed to prove himself a talented player, yet he also became notorious for having committed the most technical fouls during a season. In addition to breaking his own record of forty technical fouls, Rasheed Wallace was suspended for seven games due to his aggressive attitude towards one of the referees, and showed himself to be more of a liability to the team than an asset. In 2004, he was traded to Atlanta Hawks, but after only playing one game, he was traded again; this time he joined Detroit Pistons.

Wallace was a significant factor in helping the Pistons win the NBA title in 2004. Seeing Wallace’s contributions to the team, the board decided to offer Wallace a $57 million deal to stay with the team, which Rasheed Wallace accepted. This impressive contract significantly boosted Rasheed Wallace’s net worth.

In 2009, Wallace signed a deal obliging him to play for the Boston Celtics for three years, yet he was released from it when he announced his retirement from the NBA in 2010. After a two year hiatus, Wallace returned to play for the New York Knicks, but unfortunately suffered a leg injury and was forced to announce his second retirement in 2013.

Rasheed Wallace played a total of sixteen seasons in the NBA, and was chosen to play for the NBA All-Star team in 2006 and 2008, and currently holds the record for the most technical fouls received in the NBA history – he has been the recipient of over three hundred technical fouls during his career.

After retiring, Rasheed was hired as an assistant coach by the Pistons, but his contract wasn’t renewed after the 2014-15 season.

In his personal life, Rasheed married Fatima in 1998, and they have four children. He is a committed Muslim.
