A man named Raheel Ahmad travelled from his home in Georgia and shot his ex-wife Sania Khan in her condominium in Streeterville. Ahmed turned the gun on himself as police officers tried to get inside.
Officers arrived at the scene in the 200 block of East Ohio Street on Monday after police in Georgia asked for a well-being check on the suspected gunman. His family informed him he was missing from the Atlanta suburb.
The 36-year-old man and his wife, Sania Khan, went through a divorce. Depressed, Ahmad travelled to Chicago to salvage the marriage, an officer from Alpharetta said to Chicago police.
Meanwhile, two of the man’s friends said the couple finalized their divorce in May. According to the reports, the police officers at the scene heard a single gunshot and a verbal groan as they knocked on the door.
The police officers found Sania Khan unresponsive near the door with a gunshot wound to the back of the head, and the blood on Khan’s face was already dried. At the same time, the officers found Ahmed in the bedroom.
Ahmed shot himself and held a 9mm Glock handgun in the bedroom while they also discovered a suicide note nearby. The officers pronounced Ahmed’s 29-year-old wife Sania dead at the scene.
The officers took Ahmed to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he breathed his last. Sania and Ahmed reportedly broke up last winter and divorced months afterwards.

Sania was planning to move back home this week to plan her next move in her photography career, stated a friend of Khan’s from high school, Grant, who did not want his last name disseminated.
Grant, a camera operator and videographer, stated he and Sania were both creative spirits who connected over their love of photography at the Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences.
He said that during college, Sania double-majored in psychology and women’s studies as she established her photography career on the side. Khan became a flight attendant after working as a social worker.
