Perez Reed is a suspected serial killer who has been charged in connection with a seventh murder after witnesses saw a crescent moon tattoo on his forehead.
A suspected serial murderer who has previously been charged with six murders in the Kansas City and St. Louis regions has now been charged with a seventh death. On Friday, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker announced a fresh murder charge against Perez Deshay Reed, 26, of Jackson.
Perez is accused of killing 16-year-old Marnay Haynes on September 13, 2021, and 40-year-old Lester Robinson on September 26 in St. Louis County. He’s also accused of killing Pamela Abercrombie, 49, and Carey Ross, 24, in St. Louis on September 16 and 19, respectively. Each of the four victims was shot in the head with a bullet.
Reed is charged with killing Damon Washington Irvin and Rau’daja De’Naya Farrow in October in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Authorities in Kansas City said the corpses were discovered in different apartments at a facility near downtown Kansas City. He was arrested after stepping off a bus in Independence, Missouri, after being sought by the FBI.
Perez Dashay Reed Is a Serial Killer
Perez of St. Louis, had previously been charged with six prior murders before he was charged with first-degree murder on Friday. He’s also been charged with one count of armed criminal conduct and two charges of credit or debit card fraud.
The most recent accusations arise from the fatal shooting of Stephon D. Johnson in November 2021, whose body was discovered stuffed inside a closet in his midtown Kansas City condominium. He had been shot in the back of the head, according to investigators.
Moreover, witnesses told detectives that the serial murderer they had seen on TV from St. Louis was the same man who had been a visitor to Johnson’s.
Then, Reed was arrested in neighboring Independence on St. Louis County warrants, and officers discovered a key on him that suited a deadbolt lock at Johnson’s apartment. Reed was also linked to the murder because of DNA evidence found in a cigarillo box.
Investigators claim that the bullet discovered inside Johnson’s skull was shot from the pistol Reed was carrying at the time of his arrest. He is being detained without bail in St. Louis.
