Okechukwu Okoye Killers Arrested?
On Saturday morning, the Isuofia community in Anambra State, as well as the entire state, was rocked by the news that gunmen had beheaded the lawmaker who represented Anambra Governor Charles Soludo in the Assembly.
Hon Okechukwu Okoye’s head was discovered hanging in Nnobi, Idemili South local government area.
His body was missing, with strong signs that the killers had made off with it. The police then retrieved the automobile and dispatched operations to rescue the congressman, according to reports. While presenting Anambra’s amended budget to lawmakers on Friday, Soludo expressed hope for the lawmaker’s rescue.
The lawmaker’s death was verified by Anambra Police spokesman Ikenga Tochukwu. Governor Soludo offered his sympathies to his Isuofia family in a statement signed by his press secretary, Christian Aburime, noting that those guilty for his murder are most likely the same criminal group that attacked him and killed three police officers two years ago in Isuofia.
Soludo told Ndi Anambra that the government will collaborate with security forces to deal with the offenders and ensure their prosecution.
