The then-teenage boy Mohammed strangled the mother of his baby N’Taya Elliott-Cleverley to death and tried to run away in a taxi. His friends had taken him to Merseyside Police Headquarters and was later detained and arrested.
Killed his girlfriend on January 29, 2021, he is now found guilty and is convicted of murder.
Who Is Mohammed Diakite Liverpool?
Mohammed Diakite is a man from Ivory Coast living in Wavertree, Liverpool. He strangled his girlfriend N’Taya Elliott-Cleverley to death with a ligature.
The rope with the victim’s stained blood was found hidden under the bin bag at the Prince Alfred Road property.
The Liverpool Crown Court heard the trial where Diakite was revealed to kill his girlfriend after punching her several times with his hand. He had confessed to his friend Ismael Donzo while on his way to Liverpool Bus Station, who later took him to the police.
Apparently, he had called his support worker Celia Cole to explain his deeds on the night of the killing where he stated ‘sorry for everything’. He told Cole that he was going to jail and going to kill himself.
The concerned Cole came to his Wavertree home along with the neighbors only to find out his girlfriend under a duvet on a bed in a pool of blood. Their 4-month-old baby was in a cot beside her.
Mohammed Diakite Killed N’Taya Cleverley: Murder Sentence Update
Mohammed Diakite aka Nigel Diakite is found guilty of killing his girlfriend N’Taya Elliott-Cleverley and his sentence will be heard on 21 March at Liverpool Crown Court.
The 20-year-old killer did not appear on the court but was present via video link from The Spinney mental health hospital. While he was convicted guilty, he did not show any emotion while the victim’s parents burst into tears and hugged each other.
At the time of his arrest, he had blamed his mental health problem and had stated that he could not remember any attack.
Diakite had confessed to his friend Ismael Donzo about the killing.
Mohammed Diakite And N’Taya Cleverley Relationship
Mohammed Diakite and N’Taya Elliott-Cleverley met each other in 2019 in Liverpool.
The couple welcomed their baby in September 2020, 4-months prior to the crime Mohammed committed.
She was ready to leave Diakite and move to a new apartment with her baby after the relationship turned bitter.
As per the Senior Crown Prosecutor, Diakite killed his girlfriend because she was making plans to leave him and trying to start fresh after months of his controlling and abusive behavior.
