Jeremiah Washburn, who has more than 20 years of coaching and scouting experience in the NFL, is beginning his first season as the team’s defensive ends/outside linebackers coach. From 2020 to 21 he worked as a senior defensive assistant.
Who is NFL coach Washburn? Who is Jeremiah’s football coach?
Washburn assisted in the preparation of an Eagles defense that allowed the 10th-fewest overall yards per game (328.8) and the ninth-fewest running yards per game (107.9) in the NFL in 2021.
Additionally, the defensive line included defensive lineman Javon Hargrave and defensive end Josh Sweat, both of whom made their first Pro Bowl appearances. Both players set career highs in sacks (team-high 7.5 each).
A standout at Shelby High in the early 1990s, Washburn accompanied his father Jim to Arkansas, where the latter accepted a position on the coaching staff for the Razorbacks’ football team.
It was just one of many in the more than four decades the elder Washburn spent coaching football, which includes 12 seasons with the Tennessee Titans when he assisted the team in winning Super Bowl XXXIV. He also played for the Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and Philadelphia Eagles.
