Nate Appleman is one of the top fundraisers for the Kawasaki Disease Foundation, which will hold one of its most significant events of the year on Saturday.
At the “Cooking for KD” fundraiser at the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines, Appleman has invited 22 top-name chefs from across the country to help him in creating five-course meals tableside for 350 contributors.

Nate Appleman, a native of Greenville, Ohio, had the enviable childhood foresight of knowing what he wanted to be. As a result, Appleman enrolled in the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park when he was 17 years old. By 1999, he was working at Brasa, a French-Portuguese restaurant in Seattle.
Appleman spent six months in Florence, Italy, with a friend, fueled by a growing passion for butchery and a desire to learn more about curing.
