Three Stresa-Mottarone officials, including Luigi, the facility’s manager, and engineer director, got detained following the accident.
As per Olimpia Bossi, a public prosecutor of the Verbania, the three position holders of the Stresa-Mottarone Cable Car got arrested for the ‘conscious action’ that put the passengers at risk.
She further elaborated on the accident, stating that the emergency brakes of the cable car were deactivated.
Local prosecutors cited that they seized the camera footage, which filmed that several passengers flung out of the vehicle while tumbling down the hill.
14 people lost their lives, including 5 members of the Israeli family. Only one passenger, a 5 years old Israeli boy Eitan Biran survived the incident, who immediately got rushed to the hospital nearby.
