Know About Mohamed Noor Sentencing

Mohamed was originally found guilty of third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter by a jury, and Quaintance sentenced him to 12 1/2 years in jail in June 2019.

In that case, Mohamed had just become the first police officer in Minnesota, and one of the country’s few, to be convicted for killing a citizen.

He filed an appeal immediately after being convicted of third-degree murder, a charge that prosecutors seldom seek in court.

Earlier this year, the conviction was affirmed by the Texas Court of Appeals. The state Supreme Court, however, dismissed Mohamed’s third-degree murder indictment last month, saying that his shooting and death of Ruszczyk did not fulfill the crime’s ‘depraved mind’ requirements.
