Martinez was heard describing Jacob as ‘parece changuito’ which translates to ‘like a little monkey’ in English, the comment came while she was discussing Mike’s son’s behavior during the MLK parade in 2017. She is heard saying Jacob was climbing the walls of the float and ultimately tipped it over to its sides. She also added, he needs a beat down.

However, the translations come from Spanish and The Focus claims the phrase can be translated in two ways, the first translation is ‘like a little monkey’ and the second translation is ‘looks like a little monkey.’ The two translations have completely different meanings and the latter one is worse as Jacob is of color.

Other council members compared Jacob with Gucci bags and called him a fashion accessory to his father to bring him to events and parades.

While the recording is said to be over a year old by The Focus, it was only made public after being leaked on October 9, 2022. Since the audio was leaked, council members from Los Angeles are in huge trouble and  Martinez has stepped down as council president and taken a leave of absence following the leak according to LA Times.

Mike Bonin Husband and Family Explored

Mike Bonin is married to his husband Sean Arian, the founder and CEO of EOS Consulting.

Arian also holds the position of Founder and Chief Strategist at Bixel Exchange. It is a startup business incubator for technology startups created jointly by the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and the Small Business Development Center.

The couple tied the knot in 2014 and their marriage was officiated by Mayor Eric Garcetti. They currently live together with their son Jacob in Mar Vista. The family of three is seen hanging out together and going on hikes and adventures quite often.
