The hunt is now done. Diego Cocca has been named the new head coach of Mexico’s national team after a disorganized, hasty, and discouraging selection procedure by the Mexican Football Federation (FMF).
The FMF vowed to go deep inside itself, upset the foundations of Mexican soccer, and find a man fit to lead El Tri to never-before-attained heights after the collapse of the 2022 World Cup. They estimated the entire project would take 60 days.
Yon de Luisa and Mikel Arriola, the presidents of the FMF and Liga MX, had a news conference after the 60-day period had elapsed.
But all they showed was a PowerPoint presentation instead of a strategy to enhance Mexican soccer. Worst of all, no information on a new national team coach was released.
