Jason Daniels, from Brooklyn, New York, goes under the stage name Merrie Cherry. She is a drag entertainer and one of the Dragula contestants for the fourth season.
According to RuPaul’s Drag Race Wiki, Merrie Cherry’s name derives from an experience with someone who didn’t recall her name.
Merrie’s name was yelled at instead of her name because she was dressed entirely in red.
She was so taken with that moment that she decided Merrie Cherry should be her drag name.
Merrie is regarded as a founding member of the Brooklyn drag scene.
She had featured as a guest on Miz Cracker’s show ‘High Tea’ before joining Dragula.
Learn About The Boulet Brothers’ Dragula
According to Wikipedia, Dragula, hosted by The Boulet Brothers, is a reality competition series produced by Boulet Brothers Productions.
The show debuted on YouTube and has been broadcast on Netflix in the United States, OUTtv in Canada, and Amazon Prime in the United Kingdom and Australia.
In all territories, the series will migrate to Shudder, beginning with Season 4.
In the show, The Boulet Brothers challenge a new group of eleven drag performers worldwide to compete in an underground-style drag competition each season.
The performers compete for a monetary reward as well as the title of “Dragula – the World’s Next Drag Supermonster.”
The show highlights underground and alternative drag art, with challenges based on the show’s four guiding principles: Drag, Filth, Horror, and Glamour.
The show’s contestants are tasked with a range of obstacles each week, including costume design, special effects makeup, live performance, and acting ability.
Each episode has a winner, and the candidates who are eliminated must complete rigorous “extermination tests” that put them to the test physically and psychologically to prove they have the punk spirit demanded by the judges to stay in the competition.
