Of Jewish ancestry, Meredith is the daughter of Dorothy and Gary Salenger. After matriculating, Meredith enrolled at Harvard University, from which she obtained a degree in psychology with cum laude honors. She has also received certificates in Court-Based Mediation of Family Law Matters in 2009, and Mediating the Litigated Case from the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University School of Law in 2011.

At an early age Meredith became interested in the performing arts, and started taking acting lessons once she turned eight years old. Two years later, she made her acting debut with a minor role in the film “Annie”, and three years later came to prominence with the lead role of Natty Gann in the adventure film “The Journey of Natty Gann”, starring next to John Cusack and Ray Wise in a role which won her a Young Artist Award in the category for Best Starring Performance by a Young Actress- Motion Picture. She enjoyed success during the ‘80s, starring in a number of successful projects, including in the role of Lisa Bentwright in the romantic comedy film “A Night in the Life of Jimmy Reardon”, featuring River Phoenix as the lead star of the film, and the lead role in the fantasy horror film “The Kiss”, for which she earned a Saturn Award nomination in the category for Best Supporting Actress, all adding steadily to her net worth.

She looked to build upon the momentum from the late ‘80s into the ‘90s, and started the new decade with the lead role in the thriller film “Edge of Honor”, which didn’t enjoy success, but she bounced back with the role of Melanie Roberts in the horror film “Village of the Damned”, directed by John Carpenter and starring Christopher Reeve, Kirstie Alley and Linda Kozlowski.

Unfortunately, some of the choices she made didn’t have the desired effect, and her career began to decline. Four years after appearing in Carpenter’s film, Meredith featured in another horror film “Lake Placid”, with Bridget Fonda, Bill Pullman, and Oliver Platt as the lead stars of the film, still adding to her net worth.

The 2000s didn’t bring anything new for Meredith, as she continued with minor roles in B- production films, until 2012 when she was cast as Lisa Sanders in the TV drama series “Hollywood Heights”, which only increased her net worth since she subsequently appeared in 71 episodes. In recent years, she also launched a career as a voice actress, and since then has lent her voice to several characters in the animated series “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”, and to Lashina, a character from the animated film “Lego DC Super Hero Girls: Brain Dran” in 2017, and its sequel “Lego DC Super Her Girls: Super-Villain High” in 2018. She is now working on the action drama film “The Second Coming of Christ”, scheduled for release in March 2018.

When not acting, Meredith works as a mediator for the Agency for Dispute Resolution in Beverly Hills, California, which has also contributed to her wealth.

When it comes to her personal life, Meredith has been married to comedian Patton Oswalt since 2017; she is a stepmother to Oswalt’s daughter Alice from his previous marriage to true crime writer and journalist Michelle McNamara, who tragically passed away in April 2016.
