The first lawsuit has been filed as we discover more about the people who were hurt or murdered during the Astroworld Festival.
Just hours before the performance began, there was a stampede of fans. The sold-out third-annual Astroworld Festival gathered a large crowd outside NRG Park’s perimeter before gates opened Friday afternoon, and some fans didn’t want to wait.
Hundreds of people stormed the event’s perimeter on Friday afternoon, trampling other fans. As security workers attempted to keep the crowd under control, several people began jumping into portable toilets.
Later that night, a small group of around 50,000 festival attendees could be heard yelling at the rapper, requesting that he stop performing.
When passersby saw a man lying motionless and face-up on the ground, they screamed, “Stop the performance!” according to a video acquired by ABC13. At least eight people were killed and hundreds more were injured during the festival’s inaugural night at NRG Park.
Even before the tragic stampede that killed 8 at Houston’s Astroworld festival, Travis Scott had a history of inciting fans into intense, reckless behavior at concerts. It’s part of his allure, but now the consequences are devastating. https://t.co/ERris6XupA
