Little is known about Luke’s background; there is no reliable information about Luke’s life before he matured enough to make a difference in Australian Rules football. Before joining the Adelaide Football club, young Luke played for the Tea Tree Gully of the South Australian Amateur Football League, and Norwood of the South Australian National Football League.

In the 2011 Draft, Luke was chosen by the Greater Western Sydney as pre-selection, but was soon sent to the Adelaide Football team. He made his debut in the AFL against Greater Western Sydney on the 15th July 2012, and until the end of season collected two more appearances. He broke into the first squad the following season, primarily as a small defender. He used the chance he was given after the retirement of Michael Doughty. Luke played in 21 games of 22, and also signed a new contract with the team that only increased his wealth. Luke continued to improve his form, and in the 2014 and 2015 seasons played in all games, but in 2016 he saw action in only eight games, mostly due to an injury. Nevertheless, he most recently signed a new contract with the franchise, which will keep him until 2020, in Adelaide. This will also add a substantial amount to his net worth.

Most recently, in the 2017 AFL competition, Adelaide made the Grand Final in which Luke played despite suffering a cracked cheekbone late in the regular season. Unfortunately the team lost to Melbourne club Richmond.

Regarding his personal life, Luke tends to keep his most intimate details, such as marital status and number of children hidden from the public eyes, therefore, no real information is available in the media.
