Lindsay Mills quickly rose from obscurity to fame following her relationship with Edward Snowden, the former CIA employee who in 2013 rose to prominence for leaking classified information to the National Security Agency without the government permission.
After the leak, the world took an interest in people connected to Snowden and his girlfriend, Lindsay Mills was no exception. Ever since, Edward has been wanted for stealing government property and violating the Espionage Act of 1917. As a result, he had to flee the United States and is now seeking temporary asylum in Russia.
Who is Lindsay Mills – Edward Snowden’s Girlfriend
Who exactly is Lindsay Mills? Americans began to ask immediately after which they learned that she was Edward Snowden’s girlfriend. Before her boyfriend’s betrayal made her popular, Lindsay Mills was already something of a minor celebrity. She is a performance artist, pole dancer, acrobat and blogger.
It’s not entirely clear when Lindsay was born but considering the fact that she graduated from high school in 2003, she could have been born in the mid-80s. Mills is from Laurel and she attended Laurel High School in Maryland. Immediately after graduating from high school, she went to the Maryland Institute College of Art from where she would graduate in 2007.
The media don’t know how Mills and Snowden met, but it’s most likely happened in Maryland – Snowden, originally from Elizabeth City, North Carolina, moved with his family to Fort Meade, Maryland in the early 90s, when he was still in elementary school.
Mills and Snowden started dating in 2009 and by 2012 they had moved to Oahu, an island in Hawaii, together. Consulting firm Booz Allen Hamilton had just offered Snowden a position as a systems analyst for the National Security Agency’s Threat Operations Center.
Mills, a travel lover and entertainment lover, was in Hawaii when she became a member of the Waikiki Acrobatic Troupe, where she was part of a small group that met and performed once a month in a bar.
CIA agents often have a hard time withholding information from their lover/spouse and, of course, Mills suffered the same in her relationship with her CIA employee boyfriend, who did not reveal his intention to disclose to her. classified government files to a group of journalists.
She only got to know her boyfriend’s behavior and involvement in the leaks like the rest of – after he showed up. After Snowden confirmed the source of the leak on Sunday, Mills took to his blog on Lsjourney to post his feelings about Snowden’s revelation. In the blog post titled “Adventures of a Pole Dancing Superhero Around the World,” Mills hinted that she would be away from the blog for a while. Part of the article read;
“As I type this on my keyboard to tears, I reflect on all the faces that have come my way… My world has opened and closed all at once.”
The following day, Tuesday, Mills deactivated the blog where she often posted photos of her adventures traveling the world and sometimes details of her relationship with Snowden which she referred to as an E on the blog.
When Mills asked Snowden about his trip to Hong Kong, several weeks before the leak, his explanation was vague, saying he had to go away for a while.
After the leak, her father, Jonathan Mills, was approached by reporters and he had nothing but nice things to say about his daughter’s boyfriend, describing him as ‘very nice. Shy and reserved”.
Where is she now?
Although Lindsay was apparently hurt by the news of her boyfriend’s involvement in the leak, it wasn’t enough reason to break off their relationship.
