Kosoul Chanthakoummane from Texas will be the second person to be executed on Wednesday. He murdered Sarah Walker by stabbing in 2006.

The prisoner’s counsel has weakened the credibility of the evidence against him during his nearly 15 years on death row.

Who Is Kosoul Chanthakoummane From Texas In Death Row?

Kosoul Chanthakoummane is a 41-year-old Asian male natively from Illinois who is on death row. He will be executed on Wednesday in Texas. He is scheduled to die.

Furthermore, researchers discovered his DNA was present on Walker’s fingernails and in other places at the crime scene.

As a result, the courts are now largely satisfied they are dealing with the appropriate defendant.

The defense team for Chanthakoummane contended that the DNA evidence is also suspect in his most recent appeals to Collin County and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, which were submitted last week.

Courts have the authority to reverse convictions under a 2013 Texas “junk science” rule when the scientific evidence used at trial has since changed or been debunked.

According to the attorneys Catherine Clare Bernhard and Eric J. Allen, “present scientific knowledge fundamentally contradicts the trial court’s prior determination that the ‘only reasonable inference’ to be formed from the DNA evidence is that Mr. Chanthakoummane viciously attacked Ms. Walker.”

The idea that bite marks may be linked to a specific person has been largely disproven by forensic scientists.

Even though hypnosis has been shown to cause memory distortion, the witnesses who said Chanthakoummane was the man they saw the day of the murder had already been hypnotized by police investigators.

Kosoul Chanthakoummane Murder Charges From 2006 Case

As mentioned above, Kosoul Chanthakoummane is now on death row because of concrete evidence from the 2006 case. Chanthakoummane was 27 years old when he committed the crime.

According to www.tdcj.texas.gov, The McKinney Police Department was called to a model house on July 8, 2006, where they found a deceased white female.

Chanthakoummane was apprehended and found guilty based on evidence found at the scene.

The district attorney’s office for Collin County responded in a court document by saying that Chanthakoummane “presents no new research in the field of DNA analysis, and even if there were something new, he fails to show it would have prevented his conviction.”

After Walker was killed, authorities started investigating her friends and family.

According to Chanthakoummane’s most recent declaration, friends suggested her ex-husband or former partners, and others claimed international investors were angry with her for significant losses in real estate ventures.

Chanthakoummane was in prison in North Carolina for an armed robbery he committed when he was 16. Walker had also been robbed and assaulted at her house a few months prior.
