He made his debut in 2006 as part of the independent circuit, and has wrestled for various organizations including the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), Millennium Wrestling Federation, New England Championship Wrestling, and Eastern Wrestling Alliance.

In 2006, he signed a developmental contract with WWE and then became part of Deep South Wrestling under the name Kofi Nahaje Kingston. His debut was a loss against Montel Vontavious Porter (MVP), but he continued appearing in DSW until the beginning of 2007. He also made appearances as part of Ohio Valley Wrestling, and then made an appearance on “Raw” against Charlie Hass before returning to developmental. He switched his name to Kofi Kingston, and in 2007 he appeared in Florida Championship Wrestling, working there until the end of the year. His net worth was established.

After a lot of promotion on the weekly show “ECW”, he made his debut as the first Jamaican to wrestle for the WWE in January 2008, and made a few appearances before becoming involved in the 24-man battle royal during the pre-show of Wrestlemania XXIV. He maintained an undefeated record in ECW, but was then set to feud with Shelton Benjamin, losing his winning streak. During the 2008 Supplemental Draft, Kofi went to Raw and would fight against Chris Jericho, winning the Intercontinental Championship, but then lost the belt during Summerslam in an inter-gender tag-team bout against Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix. Afterwards, he became partners with CM Punk, and they became the World Tag Team Champions; they would eventually lose the belts to John Morrison and The Miz. His next belt would be the United States Championship, which he won by defeating MVP. He would defend the belt successfully in several pay-per-view events before losing the championship to The Miz after four months. He then went on to have a feud against Randy Orton, and his net worth was rising steadily.

In 2010, Kingston was drafted to Smackdown and won his second Intercontinental Championship at pay-per-view Over the Limit before losing the belt to Dolph Ziggler – their feud would continue with the two exchanging belts. Kofi was then sent to Raw as part of the draft a few months later, and became the WWE Tag Team Champion with Evan Bourne, and also had a partnership with R-Truth. He went on to have several feuds and other championship pursuits, facing off against Cesaro, The Miz, and Randy Orton.

He then formed a tag team partnership with Big E, and soon they would be joined by Xavier Woods, forming the group called The New Day. They would win the WWE Tag Team Championships and would hold the belt for several months during 2015-16, breaking records, as Kingston would go on and become the longest combined-reigning tag team champion at 483 days, before relinquishing it in November 2016.

For his personal life, it is known that Kofi has been married to Kori Campfield since 2010 and they have two children. He is a big fan of Jamaican reggae music, particularly by Damian Marley.
