However, later they declared it was a planned murder. The Central Intelligence Agency had concluded that Mohammed bin Salman ordered his assassination on 16 November 2018.
The 33 years old Khaled Alotaibi, was also one of the suspects of his murder. He was about the take a flight to Riyadh from Paris, where he used his real name as a passenger.
He was taken into custody right there. The news was reported by French RTL radio. He was among the 26 Saudis who were believed to be involved in the journalist’s murder.
Khashoggi went to his consulate to get the required document for a wedding with his fiance, Hatice Cengiz. He was highly critical of Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman.
His remains were never found to date. The Saudi court convicted eight criminals in 2019. Five of them were found guilty, and three were convicted of covering the crime.
His murder created a bad reputation over the country, Saudi Arabia. The news was globally subjected, however, Prince Mohammed bin Salman denies his involvement.
