Kaeita Nkeenge Rankin, along with two other tourists, was arrested yesterday. They reportedly assaulted the resident in her workplace.
The 24 years old restaurant hostess works at Carmine’s, an Italian Restaurant. It is located at Greystone Apartments in New York.
The restaurant has been following prevention procedures for the pandemic. It requires staff to wear masks and disinfect the surface after every visit.
New York City requires civilians to have their vaccination card at hand when they go out to dine. This law was enforced on September 13. The on-duty police are now regularly patrolling the dines who disregard this rule.
As the rule was mandated, it helped some restaurants to feel safe to ask for proof. While smaller restaurants are feared to not be well equipped for the consequences.
The worker was just following up on the necessary procedure. She asked these three women to show their vaccination cards. The name of the hostess has not been disclosed as of now.
It was reported that the victim was punched multiple times and had bruises and scratches over her face and the area in the upper chest and arm. The attacker also broke her necklace during the fight.
The camera footage was taken as evidence for the crime, which shows series of name-calling and manhandling.
It seems the employee got assaulted so badly for following her duty as mandated by law. If appropriate action is not taken right now, it is sure to flare up more in the future.
The victim was treated on the spot by the Emergency Medical Service staff.

They were given Desk Appearance Tickets and were ordered a Court date on October 5.
The trio is being charged with misdemeanor assault and criminal mischief.
