Kaceytron is one of the growing number of women in the online gaming industry. She has been broadcasting since March 2013 on the popular online gaming platform Twitch. Kaceytron certainly has enough to entertain its viewers in terms of interaction, wit, and humor. Aside from the nerdy look her ever-present glasses give her, the player’s most notable physical attribute is that she likes to show off the cleavage on her jets. This had earned her the nickname “the titty streamer”, a name she has embraced over the years. She wonders if her account on twitch is only for mature audiences.
It may or may not be what she is. Maybe it’s just a ploy to get people to stay on her channel, to ultimately make her grow. One thing is for sure, Kaceytron can be summed up in three words: bespectacled, entertaining and cheeky.
Who is Kaceytron? Is she a troll?
Before his stream reached its level of infamy, Kaceytron, real name Kacey Caviness, worked at Earthbound Trading Company as a store manager, a store located on the outskirts of Kansas City. Kacey had two younger siblings; a sister and an autistic brother. Her mother’s constant struggle with drug addiction led Kacey and her siblings to move in with their grandmother when she was just five years old.
In her grandmother’s house, she spent much of her childhood playing games on her grandmother’s computer. She’s played everything from Donkey Kong Country to Diablo 2, Starcraft, and World of Warcraft. After leaving her grandmother’s house at 17, she tried education with a few college courses, but nothing stuck. She spent this period of her life working in a variety of retail jobs including Claire’s, Gap and Delia’s.
In 2013, she launched her twitch career with World of Warcraft, a game she had been playing since 2004. From the start, she was known for her liberal use of expletives in her commentary and for her in-game banter, praising herself often whenever a shot she tried went wrong. They also criticized her for using her boobs to get opinions and donations. This actually made Kaceytron realize that people were so into this stuff. Over the next few years, she gradually dropped the necklines, which increased her following as well as the number of trolls on her channel.
Kaceytron’s audience and the biggest online game streaming industry is polarized on their opinion of what they do and whether it’s a good thing or a bad thing. A simple Google search will reveal enough information about the controversial player, usually followed by comments from everyone from feminist supporters to outright haters. As for Kaceytron – whose real name is Kacey Caviness – there is hardly a neutral opinion.
Kacey’s ability to take advantage of her body and odd personality must get streamer donations on twitch and grow her following has been praised by many. This category of people thinks it’s a genius of him to make sexism to his advantage, arguing that people were very likely to objectify him in one way or another. People on the other side of the divide, however, talk about how she’s a fake streamer and how she uses her body and impulsive speech to distract people from her lack of talent. This, it is said, is evident in the fact that it almost always loses all of its games and its growing audience.
Kaceytron, who has played games like SOMA, and League of Legends, has been seen on occasion in her streams talking about how she is better than every other female gamer around. She also talked about many other players and social media personalities, such as Sodapoppin and Kneecoleslaw.
For these and other behaviors perceived as destructive and generally negative, a twitch streamer identified as Jason v5959 started a petition to ban Kaceytron from the twitch platform. Jason v5959 then listed the myriad of ways Kacey Caviness violated Twitch’s terms of service. It was a long list of violations of laws, hateful harassment and conduct, improper categorization of content, nudity, pornography and other sexual content. This petition was encouraged by the fact that earlier this month, Twitch announced plans to incorporate new policies governing sexual content. Jason v5959 is not the only person to have started such a petition.
What happened to him?
Kaceytron is always very activeshe does her best: to turn every situation in her favor. In 2016, during the presidential race, she created a series called Kaceytron University, an obvious parody of Trump University.
After the announcement of Twitch’s impending event, Kacey took to Twitter to encourage women who want to get into streaming but were afraid of Twitch’s announcement. This ad even inspired her to create a conservative alter-ego who always wears sweaters and never uses curse words.
Kaceytron’s description on Twitch for the longest time, as his streams always straddle the line between satirical and troll. However, one thing is clear today to anyone who knows her: Kaceytron is more of an artist and a gamer. She even alluded to it indirectly by explaining that she believes her channel was built to cater to fugitives — to entertain people who wanted to leave their real-world issues behind for a while.
Kaceytron started out with the intention of keeping his private life completely isolated from the internet world. However, in recent years, she’s become more open about her real-life struggles, particularly when it comes to her mother’s struggle with drugs and its aftermath. This newfound reality has gradually continued to blur the line between Kacey Caviness, the Kansas City girl, and Kaceytron, the famously savage electronic star.
