Justine Lindsay is the first openly transgender cheerleader of NFL. At 29 years of age, she was able to be the latest member of the Topcats.

Lindsay may not be the first transgender cheerleader to reach an NFL team’s roster since there are no clear records in the league to back that up. She is, however, the first to speak out about it.

Cheerleading squads have evolved quietly in recent years, in both the NFL and across American professional sports.

Many teams have begun to include males, and others have abandoned regular teams entirely in favor of a “spirit squad” or similar created organization. For the 2022 season, the TopCats have two guys on their 30-man roster.
