Julie Goodyear’s husband, Scott Brand, has made it known that she has dementia. Julie Goodyear is best known for playing Bet Lynch in the BBC serial opera Coronation Street.
“My beloved wife and I have had to come to terms with this devastating news,” Brand said in response to the diagnosis. Julie, regrettably, has been losing her memory for quite some time.
“Despite seeking advice and support from medical professionals, it has become clear that there is no chance of correcting her illness. Instead, a gradual decline is anticipated—possibly even one that is hastened.
Who is Julie Goodyear?
At 81 years old, Julie Goodyear performed the part of Bet Lynch, who made her television debut in 1966 and joined the cast as a regular in 1970, appearing in more than 25 years.
She was one of the longest-running stars on the program thanks to her roles as a barmaid and then the landlady of the Rovers Return pub, which helped her gain a lot of fame in the soap opera community. In 2002 and 2003, she made a brief comeback to the role for a few episodes each time.
Due to its potential to affect Goodyear’s interactions with her fans, Brand highlighted the significance of making the diagnosis public. “We have opted to share the diagnosis,” he said, “given that Julie still takes pleasure in seeing friends and going out to eat.
Brand stated that she intended to continue supporting Willow Wood Hospice in Greater Manchester, a company that offers care and support for those with life-limiting illnesses, notwithstanding Goodyear’s condition.
