When Judith Huth was 16 years old and accepted his offer to join him at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles in 1975, a jury in California on Tuesday ruled that Bill Cosby had sexually assaulted her.
Californian Judy Huth, 64, gained notoriety after accusing Bill Cosby of sexual assault in 2014. Huth and Cosby, 84, started dating in 1975 when she was 16 years old.
In May 2022, Bill Cosby went back to court to contest Judith Huth’s civil action. He has refuted the accusations brought against him.
The choice damaged the reputation of a man whose status as one of America’s most adored celebrities fell apart after several women came forward to make sexual misconduct claims against him.
Who Is Judith Huth? Bill Cosby Accuser Today
Californian Judy Huth, 64, gained prominence after accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault in 2014. When Huth was 16 years old and Cosby was 84, they began dating.
She alleges that during that time the celebrity sexually raped her in a bedroom at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles; Cosby continues to reject these charges.
According to court documents provided to The New York Times by his attorneys, “defendant does not deny that he mingled with plaintiff at the Playboy Mansion.
As he did with other ladies and men who attended the club,” adding that the defendant “vehemently denies that plaintiff was underage.”
Huth’s story came to light for the first time in 2014 when she filed the lawsuit following Cosby’s release from prison.
In addition, Cosby is the subject of a separate civil lawsuit in New Jersey brought by Lili Bernard, a former member of The Cosby Show, who claims that Cosby drugged and sexually assaulted her in Atlantic City in 1990.
Judith Huth & Bill Cosby, Navy Veteran Victim Janae Sergio Update
The jury reached a verdict and gave Judith Huth a $500,000 damage award. After the jury was expelled by the judge, Ms. Huth hugged her attorneys and beaming while the courtroom listened to the judgment in silence.
Ms. Huth, who was seated next to Gloria Allred, her attorney, told a reporter in the courtroom, “I feel vindicated.
For all the victims out there, she declared, “It’s a huge, huge step forward.” It’s past time for him to atone for what he did to so many women.
In addition to being significant for Ms. Huth, who first came out with her allegations in 2014, the verdict provided some relief for many of the women who have long accused Mr. Cosby of perpetrating abuse of a similar nature.
After Mr. Cosby’s criminal conviction in the Andrea Constand case was reversed by an appeal panel last year on due process grounds, the Huth case afforded them a second opportunity to obtain public vindication of their claims.
What Happened To Judith Huth During Trial?
Bill Cosby was found guilty of sexually molesting Judith Huth when she was 16 by a civil jury.
Huth was underage, but the jury found that despite Cosby’s denials to the contrary, he had a reasonable understanding of that fact.
Nathan Goldberg, Huth’s attorney, stated to the jury during closing arguments on June 17 that Huth “deserves to have Mr. Cosby held accountable for what he did.”
“Each of you knows in your heart that Mr. Cosby attacked Miss Huth,” he said. Cosby’s lawyer Jennifer Bonjean questioned Huth about possible inaccuracies in her accounts throughout the trial.
It’s on like Donkey Kong, Bonjean told the jurors during her closing remarks, and she concluded by saying, “game over.”
She said something, and Goldberg said, “This is about justice!”Game over is not necessary! Justice is required!
