The Twitter accounts that spread the fraudulent allegation are all fake news accounts, and “Bernie Gores” is not a real CNN reporter.
A screenshot of two tweets apparently sent by CNN’s Ukraine and Afghanistan accounts is making the rounds, announcing the death of their journalist ‘Bernie Gores’ in an attack by Taliban in Afghanistan and the “first American casualty” of an activist in Ukraine.
However, we discovered that the assertion is false. We discovered that neither of the profiles is active on Twitter and that the guy in the photo is Jordie Jordan, commonly known as ‘Wingsofredemption,’ a notorious gaming broadcaster.
CNN: Is Journalist Bernie Gores Dead? Death Hoax Debunked And Obituary
Social media users are circulating screenshots of fake CNN and BBC News tweets claiming that a CNN journalist called Bernie Gores was kidnapped and killed by the Taliban in Kabul, Afghanistan.
The assertion was first made in tweets sent out on August 16, 2021, by three now-suspended Twitter accounts. After the initial accounts were suspended, the tweets propagated through individual posts and shares on Twitter and Facebook.
There was no journalist called “Bernie Gores” at CNN when the posts occurred, according to CNN’s list of anchors, correspondents, and staff.
The happy man in tweets and Facebook referred to as “Bernie Gores” was identified as video game streamer Jordie Jordan by Lead Stories.
Jordan’s image was used in a new bogus claim in August 2020, claiming that he was a missing individual called Bernie Gores who had been killed in a Beirut, Lebanon, blast.
Reuters, FactCheck.org, and AFP all refuted the assertion.
Bernie Gores Age & Family
Since Bernie Gores is just a made-up person with no real identity, we cannot provide accurate information about him.
According to sources, CNN was the first to disclose that Gores was a journalist killed by the Taliban in 2021. Then, they claim, CNN said Gores was a Ukrainian separatist activist slain in February.
“Wow!! The first American victim in the ‘Ukraine Crisis’ is the same person who was ‘executed’ by the Taliban in Afghanistan. Let’s see how that goes. “According to a Facebook post from February 25, “CNN is the people’s adversary.”
What Happened To Bernie Gores?
Some social media users alleged CNN lied about a bogus man named “Bernie Gores” dying during the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Two Twitter posts appear to be side by side in the post, each depicting the same man. A tweet from @CNNAfghan, dated August 16, 2021, looks to be one of them. The Taliban executed “Bernie Gores,” according to the caption.
The second looks to be a February 23 tweet from @CNNUKR. “Gores” was murdered by a mine in Ukraine, according to the caption.
CNN, on the other hand, did not send either tweet.
Both @CNNAfghan and @CNNUKR were suspended from Twitter because they were unverified.
