During her college years she traveled to London and wrote a few songs with Maverick Saber and Ed Thomas. After leaving school, she moved to London and took a part-time job as a barista, but still wrote songs.
She was a special guest on Drake Boy Meet World Tours that ran February-March 2017. She was also featured on his mixtape singing on two of his tracks. Jorja Smith released her song, Beautiful Little Fools in reference to the Great Gatsby novel. She collaborated with Kali Uchis and appeared on his song, Tyrann . She then released her third single titled Jugendphantasie . Two months later, she worked alongside Preditah and released the song, It’s Going Through My Mind .
Her acts at the opening of Bruno Mars’ 24k Magic’s World Tour in November 2017 saw her secure a spot as a Brit Critics’ Choice Award winner. After being awarded, she co-wrote and performed the song. I’m on Kendrick Lamar Soundtrack Black Panther. She also performed at the BRIT Awards. Jorja Smith has been putting more effort into doing live tours lately.
