Born on February 27, 1982, Jorn Fetterman’s wife, Gisele, is a native of Brazil who fled to America as an illegal immigrant in 1990 due to the violence at Rio de Janerio. She was just seven years old when she moved with her mother and younger brother to the United States, and they resided in a one-room apartment in New York City.
In the USA, they had to live a life of poverty due to being an illegal immigrant for about a decade. It was reported that they furnished their apartment with the pieces of furniture they found on the street, and they often depended on food banks and thrift shops to make a living.
Although her mother held a Ph.D. from a Brazilian University and worked as a professional nutritionist and educator, she worked as a cleaner when they moved to the United States. She was often denied being paid due to their undocumented immigrant status.
About her educational background, when he came to the USA, Gisele was a non-English speaker. She enrolled at one of the Queens, New York schools, where she considered English her second language.
Later, her family moved to New Jersey, where she enrolled at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.
Gisele received an American green card in 2004 and officially became a citizen of the USA in 2009.
She started a career when she started the Braddock Bench Project, where she focused on adding benches at the local bus stations. Gisele is also a founder of The Braddock Free Store. It is a non-profit organization that works for low-income families and helps in the fulfillment of their basic needs like household items, baby formulas, furniture, and so on.
Now, the organization is serving 1600 families per month.
In 2015, Gisele Barreto became a co-founder of 412 Food Rescue, a non-profit organization whose motive was to reduce food scarcity, especially for families in need. The organization distributed about 2.5 million pounds of food during its first two years of establishment.
As an activist, she has been quite active in her field. She pushed the United States Congress to take compassionate approaches toward immigrant families. She is an advocate and a supporter of LGBTQ+ rights and supports the Legalization of cannabis in Pennsylvania. She is also a founder of Good PGH, an organization that advocates for diversity and inclusion.
She was called “Best Activist” for her active ,community participation and even served as an emcee for World Refugee Day in 2018.
She even served as one of the hosts and an honorary chairperson at the 2019 Hispanic Heritage Gala. In the same year, she became the first woman recipient of the Rodef Shalom Congregation’s Pursuer of Peace Award.
John Fetterman’s Family And Children
John Fetterman met Gisele in 2007 when he was serving as a mayor of Braddock, Pennsylvania. She wrote a letter to him regarding the town’s role in the steel industry. A year after that, they got married. Now they live with their three kids, Karl, Grace, August, and one rescue dog Levi in a renovated loft in Braddock. The building was a former car dealership building back in 1920.
As a couple, they have worked together many times toward the betterment of the community. In 2019, they opened a pool at the Lieutenant Governor’s Mansion in Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania, to the children who didn’t have access to one.

John Karl Fetterman is a democratic politician and US Senator- elected from Pennsylvania. He has served as the 34th Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania since 2019.
Previously he also worked as a mayor in Braddock from 2006 to 2019.
In August 2022, John appeared in public for the first time after facing a stroke. He appeared physically healthy. However, his speech was somewhat halted.
