Joey had a tough childhood since his mother succumbed to alcoholism during his teen years. He went to Marlborough High School, from which he matriculated in 2009, and then enrolled at Fitchburg State College, where he studied film but left studies after only one year since his YouTube career had already taken a turn in the right direction.

It was in 2007 that Joey started his YouTube career; he teamed up with his high school friend, Brittany to upload a video on the channel WinterSpringPro, before eventually starting his own self-titled channel two years later, on which he started uploading videos of his daily life, and in no time gained a massive following, which only encouraged him to continue with his YouTube career. In 2012 he started another YouTube channel, this one dedicated to video games; he films himself playing games such as Minecraft, among others. Nowadays, he has more than 2.3 million subscribers on his gaming channel, while his videos have reached a total of more than 450 million views, which have significantly increased his wealth, but his main resource is his first channel that he uses as a vlog, which now has over 8.3 million subscribers with more than 1.5 billion views.
