Just before the catastrophic incident, Melissa had sent a message to her husband letting him know where they were walking.
According to the witnesses, the baby and the mother were beaten and thrown under the wagon. The little girl had died later that night at the Royal Children’s Hospital.

On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, the estranged husband of Melissa Arbuckle had read the heartbreaking victim impact statement.
He described being taken aback when police arrived at his door to inform him of what had occurred.
Jed has stated: “It is hard to describe just how painful that was. My dear little girl was gone, she deserved so much more. I was stuck with this feeling of helplessness.”
He had ended the statement by saying “Every night I would dream of death,”
