Due to several factors, he started associating food with comfort and gained weight, at one point getting over 300 pounds. The athlete quickly realized that the lifestyle was not healthy, and started a journey to lose pounds.

Every day, he started waking at 3:30 a.m. and running or going to the gym and riding an AirDyne bike for an hour. Then he’d go to work before finishing the night by heading to his gym once again, this time to train in MMA.

After a year of that grind, the couple had resources, so they shifted to Arizona so that he could start his MMA journey. Initially starting in the heavyweight category over 285 pounds, he quickly realized that since that weight was not natural for him, he had several disadvantages over his competitors.

So, when before he used to eat a lot of high carb and high fat foods he transformed his diet to a healthier combination all food groups.

That way, he was able to lose almost 40% of his body weight.
