The shooting came at the time of confrontation between the husband and wife.
According to Fox5, Shanteari decided to confront James about child molestation at her daycare after she received multiple complaints from the parents and things quickly got out of hand.
However, there are no reports if James made the first move and Shanteari shot him as a defense but she will appear in front of the court today.
The incident occurred at 7:40 p.m. in an eighth-floor room at the posh hotel in the 1300 block of Maryland Avenue SW, near the Tidal Basin, and forced the evacuation of guests and employees when police claimed the Shanteari Weems refused to leave the room.
Police responded to a 911 call after the hotel management alerted them of the shooting, they talked with Shanteari from behind the doors as she threatened to take her own life if the police tried to enter the room.
However, after a lengthy conversation, police officers were finally able to get inside the room and apprehend the daycare owner for shooting her husband. She has admitted to shooting James.

James Weems Obituary: Is He Dead Or Did He Survive?
James Weems is not dead despite suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his leg and head.
Instead, he is making a steady improvement and is expected to survive. He is being treated at a local hospital for his gunshot wounds.
Although authorities have not revealed anything about his condition, he might be stable and making a good improvement in his health.
