Jalen Walker lost his life after he was fired more than ninety shots by the Akron police team.
Akron police officers sought to pull over Walker because he had violated a traffic regulation. According to the police department, officers had to pursue Walker in this case because he did not pull over.
The cops went on to say, “The suspect’s actions led the officers to believe he represented a lethal threat to them.” “Officers fired their weapons in reaction to the threat, hitting the suspect.”
However, when the situation deteriorated, the police officers pursued Jalen on foot and opened fire on the black car, delivering a hail of bullets. Eight officers, seven of whom were said to be white, whittled down the corpse of a young black man with a hail of bullets!
After following him, he slowed his automobile and exited through the passenger side door while the car continued to go forward.
They also stated that the cops attempted to stop him with stun guns before opening fire after the stun guns failed. When queried about the event again, the police department repeated their explanation.
“This video is devastating and difficult to comprehend,” Mayor Daniel Horrigan said. The department stated that it would release all film from Monday’s incident, not just the video needed by law, within a week after first showing the tape to Walker’s family.
Following the shooting, the city postponed its July 4th celebrations, and the Akron NAACP branch planned a march and demonstration downtown on Sunday afternoon to coincide with the video’s release. Bobby DiCello, the Walker family’s lawyer, called the video “merciless.”
“It’ll arouse some passion.” “It’s going to scare people,” DiCello said before the video was released.
