Ickey Ekwonu is an American football offensive player who plays for the NC State Wolfpack. There is some doubt about whether North Carolina State offensive tackle Ikem Ekwonu will be the NFL’s first overall choice on Thursday night.
Ekwonu started the last seven games of his rookie season at left tackle, leading the team with 37 pancake blocks and earning a spot on the FWAA Freshman All-America team. He started as a left guard for the Wolfpack in his second season.
During the season, Ekwonu was shifted back to left tackle and led the Wolfpack with 50 pancake blocks and 22 knockdowns. He was named second-team ACC at both guards as well as a tackle by the Associated Press.
Going into the 2021 season, Ekwonu has been selected as a preseason All-ACC selection and a preseason All-American. He received the Jacobs Blocking Trophy as the finest ACC blocker and was a unanimous All-American pick.
