The death of Argentina soccer legend Diego Maradona has cast a pall over the entire sport. England’s 1986 tormentor and one of the most gifted athletes to ever play the game, the ex-Barcelona and Napoli star died at 60 years old.
Who is Giannina Maradona?
Giannina Maradona is the second of three children born to Maradona and his wife, Claudia Villafane, between 1989 and 2004. She is the daughter of legendary football player Diego Armando Maradona and his first wife, Giannina. Giannina, whose older sister is Dalma, has a large presence in her native Argentina, with over 680,000 Instagram followers and currently works as a fashion designer.
Giannina, a keen Boca Juniors fan, was embroiled in a legal dispute with her father three years ago, with the Argentina ace calling for his daughter to be imprisoned. Maradona claimed that his daughters and ex-wife had stolen around £3.4million from him over the years.
She has also emphasized her father’s condition, and said that he is a “alcoholic” who had previously been treated for alcohol abuse. She and Dalma declared in June that they were prepared to “go to court” to assist his drinking problem. “I don’t have to expose my father,” she informed Argentine TV. If I do it, it will be in the presence of a judge, so it can be done judiciously.
“I wouldn’t mind having to show a judge photos and other evidence from that day, but not on television, to a judge. “I don’t discourage him from drinking alcohol any longer. He does not enjoy it, however.

In 2008, Giannina and Sergio Aguero married in a secret ceremony. A year later, she gave birth to Benjamin in Madrid, where Sergio was playing for Atletico at the time. The pair divorced after four years of marriage in 2012.
