Tetiana Ostashchenko is a Ukrainian military doctor who is Commander of the Medical Forces of the country’s armed forces. Besides, she holds the post of brigadier general in the army. She has been serving the nation from the commanding position since 2021.
She has set a benchmark that even women can lead the army forces. In the history of Ukraine, she is the first woman to look after a particular military department. She is also the only lady to be brigadier-general of the country.
Born in August 1974, the general might have been inspired by her father who was also in the military. She graduated in 1996 from the Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University as Faculty of Pharmacy.
Additionally, she had later graduated from the Ukrainian Military Medical Academy. In 2020, she also completed a course in the defense and security sector reform and strategic leadership for management from Cranfield University.
Fact Checkers Identified Tetiana Ostashchenko As Dead Woman In Zelenskiy Video
Fact-checkers mistakenly identified Tetaina Ostashchenko as the woman who died in February in a video posted by Zelenskiy in March where he was seen visiting a hospital with wounded soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The clip was uploaded on social media by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but the cyberians mistook a military physician who died in February for Ukraine’s medical forces commander.
Viewers could spot a lady with short blonde hair in the three-minute clip. The screenshot has been extensively circulated by some who believe it depicts Sergeant Inna Derusova, a military surgeon who died in February.
Some users even claimed that the video was fake and was shot before the death of Inna Derusova. In addition, some conspiracy theories are flowing on the internet regarding the president.
Some people claimed that Zelensky has already left Ukraine and the videos emerging on the social media were all shot in advance, writes Reuters.
Nevertheless, the news sources have clarified that she is not the woman who netizens think she is. Inna was one of the first women to posthumously receive the title Hero of Ukraine as she died after two days of the Russian invasion.
