To begin with, Curry was one of the major senior players of Thornwood High School in South Holland, Illinois, helping the team reach the playoffs IHSA State in 2001 and to win the state title in Class AA. He was named Mr. Basketball of Illinois and was the MVP of McDonald’s All-American Game of 2001, with 28 points. Curry did not actually have a college career; despite having shown interest in playing for DePaul University, he entered the NBA Draft of 2001, not walking the traditional path of athletes: high school, university and professional sports.

Concerning his professional career, he was selected fourth in the first round of the Draft by the Chicago Bulls, after Pau Gasol. In his debut year as a professional, he played less time because of age (only 18 years), managing to average 6.7 points 3.8 rebounds, had a good utilization of 50.1% of blocks while playing 16 minutes on average in 72 matches. In his second year, he made the record in block shots with 58.5%, again putting his name in a key statistics of the NBA; his average increased to 10.5 points, 4.4 rebounds and 19.4 minutes on the court, but the expectation on his game had not yet been fulfilled as expected. In the season 2004 – 2005, he helped the Bulls to reach the playoffs averaging 16.1 points and 5.4 rebounds in 63 games, but due to heart problems, missed the last thirteen games of the regular season and the playoffs.

Eddy then moved to the New York Knicks in 2005, where he managed to play his best season with 19.5 points and 7 rebounds average, despite a weak collective team campaign. On the 7th April 2007 he made the best start in the NBA, scoring 43 points in the victory over the Milwaukee Bucks and converting the three points that took the game into overtime, however, Curry still received constant criticism because of his defense. During the 2010 – 2011 season, he was traded to Minnesota but released after a few days. t the end of 2011, Curry signed a contract with Miami Heat, and for his comeback Curry took off up to 30 kg of weight. With the Heat, Curry won the 2012 championship, and for the season 2012 – 2013 received a new contract with the Heat, but in December 2012, he signed at the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in China. In 2013, he announced his retirement, citing heart problems which prevented him performing at the required level to continue playing.

Finally, in the personal life of the basketball player, Eddy Curry is married to Patrice Curry – they seven children plus a son from Curry’s previous brief marriage to Kone Kellog.
